If you’re just starting out, then there’s no need to go and spend a huge amount of money on new kit. You want to make sure you’re fully hooked before going down that rabbit hole (and believe us when we say it’s hard to get out of that hole).
But if you want to get started on the right foot (pedal?) and make sure you have the right kit to put you in good stead, here are our recommendations:
Bib shorts
These are the number one item we recommend and the most important item to get right. Ensure a nice tight fit with a good chamois (pronounced shammy). This is the padded bit of your shorts, that will give you an all more comfortable ride!
Cycling shoes
Although we have pedals for those wearing trainers, we do recommend a good fitting cycling shoe. Being clipped in allows you to dial in your position on the bike and become far more comfortable and efficient. We can help you gain confidence with clipping in at the studio, ready for you to transfer it outside on the bike.
Base layers
Base layers, light jerseys or bibs are recommended for training in the studio as they are lightweight and moisture wicking. As long as you're comfortable and wearing something that doesn’t allow you to overheat too much, you need not spend too much money.
Just these will set you up in good stead to get started on your cycling fitness journey.
