● Bike fitting · Brighton
Ride like the bike was built around you.
A professional bike fit in Brighton, unhurried and built entirely around you. Book a bike fitting at PowerWatts with Steve Byrne and spend around three hours getting every contact point right, from saddle to cleats to cockpit. You leave with a position that clears the niggles, frees up power and feels like home, and with the measurements written down so it's repeatable on any bike you own.
01 / How a fit works
It starts off the bike, not on it.
Before you turn a pedal, Steve works through your history, any niggles, how you flex and what you want from the bike. Only then do we start moving parts. Saddle first, then cleats and pedals, then reach and cockpit, each change tested properly rather than guessed. Insoles go in where they earn their place. Every number is written down so your position is repeatable, on this bike and the next one.
● Fit point
Every contact point, dialled in.
A PowerWatts fit works through every contact point and every angle, then writes down the numbers so your position is repeatable. Tap a point on the bike to see what we set.
Tap a point on the bike
01 / Fit point
Saddle height
Set from your leg extension, not a guess. The right height frees up power and takes the strain off your knees over a long ride.
02 / Fit point
Saddle setback
Fore and aft position balances you over the pedals so your knee tracks cleanly and your weight sits where it should.
03 / Fit point
Reach
The distance to the bars decides how your back, neck and shoulders feel. We set it around how you actually ride, not a race position you will never hold.
04 / Fit point
Stem length
A stem swap fine tunes reach and steering once the frame fit is right, the last few millimetres that make the cockpit yours.
05 / Fit point
Bars and hoods
Bar width, drop and lever angle shape hand comfort and control. Small changes here settle numb hands and tired shoulders.
06 / Fit point
Cranks and cadence
Crank length changes your hip angle and the cadence that feels natural. The right length keeps you smooth and spares the hips.
07 / Fit point
Cleats and pedals
Cleat position sets how your foot meets the pedal. Get it right and knee niggles and hot spots settle down.
- An off-the-bike assessment first: history, niggles, flexibility and goals
- Saddle height and setback set to your body, not a chart
- Cleat and pedal position dialled for a clean, repeatable pedal stroke
- Reach, stem, bars and hoods adjusted to how you actually ride
- Custom insoles where they help
- Every measurement written down and yours to keep
02 / Who it's for
Road, TT or gravel. Your bike, your fit.
A fit suits whatever you ride and wherever you're starting from. We fit road, time trial and gravel positions, each set up for the job it does. It's done on the bike you already own, so there's nothing to buy first. New riders find a base that finally feels comfortable, and racers chase the last few watts.
- Road, TT and gravel positions, each fitted for the job
- Carried out on the bike you already own
- New riders finding comfort, racers chasing the last few watts
- A repeatable position you can carry across bikes
03 / What it changes
More comfort, more power, fewer niggles.
Most people book a fit because something isn't right: a knee that aches, a back that tightens, hips that never settle, or a sense they're working harder than the numbers should allow. A good fit settles those niggles and puts you in a stronger, more sustainable position. The payoff is comfort that lasts the whole ride and power you can actually hold.
- Settles nagging knee, hip and back niggles
- More sustainable power from a stronger position
- Comfort that holds up over the long rides
- Confidence your setup is right, not guessed

● Good to know
Bike fitting, answered.
How much does a bike fit cost at PowerWatts?
A full bike fit is £250. That's the complete session, not a starting price, and you keep your measurements afterwards so the position is repeatable on any bike you own.
Who carries out the bike fit?
Every fit is done by Steve Byrne, our bike fitter and coach. You work through the whole session together, one to one, at your pace.
How long does a bike fit take?
Allow around three hours, roughly 180 minutes. It's unhurried on purpose, so there's time to test each change properly rather than rush a number.
Do you do saddle and cleat fitting?
Yes. Saddle height, setback and saddle choice are core to the fit, and so is cleat and pedal position. Getting your feet and your saddle right is usually where the comfort and the power come from, and custom insoles are used where they help.
What should I bring to a bike fit?
Bring the bike you ride most, road, TT or gravel, along with your usual cycling shoes, shorts and pedals. If you're deciding between bikes, have a word with us first.
Is a bike fit worth it?
If you get nagging knee, hip or back niggles, lose comfort on longer rides, or feel you're leaving power on the table, a fit usually pays for itself. You leave more comfortable, more efficient, and with a position you can trust.
